YES finallyyyy were done. Survived finals week and all that. Had a very bad feeling about my OChem and I was right. My salvation was that most other ppl sucked even more than I so it worked out well in the end haha. Also damn that Bio lab and the Bio dept in general for lagging on the 99 grade. But its okay. Cuz im done for nowwwwwww!

Also came back from the Pine Valley retreat this weekend which was cool. The annual meeting of us old old people haha. And now summer lies ahead clear and untainted by exams and professors. No studying or papers. Thank you God!! haha

So the other day Im in bio and Im having a fine nap. Then all of a sudden the lights dim. Im thinking okay a video thats better than the guy just talking. Boy was I wrong. Its a video about RNA translation which was made in like the 70s. Thats okay you expect old crappy science videos in crappy science class. But its supposed to be somewhat educational. This was possibly the worst one Ive ever seen. Ever. In my life. I know I know youre all thinking "oh its not that bad, Ive seen some pretty crappy science videos myself." And Im sure you have. But not like this thing.

Let me just start by saying that words cannot truly describe this... thing. Not only was it made in the 70s, it was made by Stanford students. So its going to be kinda nerdy. Thats still okay, BUT it had groups of people acting as different molecules or something. Oh it gets worse. Not only that, they werent like walking around and stuff but they were PRANCING all over an outdoor park like a bunch of those crazy dance/drama students. (Oh you know what Im talking about. Those people. hahaha) Its sounding pretty bad so far right? But theres more. There was also some hippie rhyming 70s poems as narration which used "words" that arent really in the English language. And finally to top it all of there was some crazy hippie band live in the park SINGING about the molecules. You had to be there to truly understand what this thing was. Seriously I felt myself getting stupider as it went on. And it went on. And on and on and ON.

Jeez CMON now science is supposed to cold and factual. Sterile. Precise. Organized. Not this disgusting mass of sweaty hippie dancing fruity nerdy - and very possibly homosexual - college students. And here I thought the professor talking was a waste of time... Wow. WOW.

So 2 more weeks, then were half way done (or should be). Wow. I cant believe that. We'll be upper classmen... where does the time go? Were getting so old. Thats not supposed to happen. I'm still waiting for "the time of my life" to happen. Wheres that CRAZZZY college life? Actually I think living in this dorm really kills any potential for that haha. But when were done here we'll (probably) have more school. Yay. Then well have jobs. Woohoo. Then possibly family. Then we'll be dead. Doh.

Wow holy crap there are responses to that first post? People actually read this stuff? haha Guess I better be mindful of what I babble about in here huh... well at least you all know what umami is now hahaha

So yeah finally the crap is done for this week is done. Decided that class wasnt important today. Then again is it ever REALLY important? Exactly.

But yeah Im reading this book Rogue Warrior by Richard Marcinko and its pretty damn awesome. Yes I know, reading - WTF is that? And its not even for a CLASS. Damn. But yeah its the autobiography of an ex-Navy SEAL and creator of SEAL Team Six. He seems like a cocky bastard but its okay cuz well yeah, hes pretty much a badass. So remember: they DO exist - books that DONT suck haha. The question is why arent there classes that require this kinda stuff? BTW speaking of autobiographies, Jackie Chan's I Am Jackie Chan is also non-sucky book. And speaking of classes, too bad Im going to be tested on Molecular Bio which is VERY sucky. Haha "sucky"... what a great elemetary school word...

So I was thinking, cuz Im forced to write some research paper, why dont they just have all journals and crap online? I mean that would remove the need for me to go to the damn library. They would mean they woudlnt NEED that whole section in the library. Hell they might even not need the library - I mean Im only there when I HAVE to find some journal or something. Online is much more convienient, not to mention cost effective. All they would need is a closet somewhere with the servers inside right? They could save the library money and say... NOT raise fees? If only I was in charge hahaha

So yeah finally brought this back online after forgetting about it for like a year.

The topic of the day is: Im getting REAL tired of school here. REAL Tired. Sigh so much busy work, so much uesless "learning." Oh hes just saying that. He knows itll be useful in the future, is what you responsible ones are saying. (Although I bet most of you are with me on this.)  Oh REALLY? How about this? This is what I learned in OChem.

"There are four basic tastes the human tongue can detect. Saltiness which is caused my NaCl. Bitter which is caused by bases. Sour - acids. Sweet - carbohydrates. The Japanese have claimed for 100 years that there is a 5th taste but it was never proven. Until recently that is. It has been found that a distinct 5th taste is caused by MSG. The Japanese refer to this as umami which means 'tastiness.'"

Now THATS some worthless info. But hey at least it sounded good right? Sad thing is that was the most interesting thing the talking man at the front of the large room said. Well except for the nitrates and carcinogens - but I digress - although you really cool ones out there will know what thats about too haha.
